Church Hill of God like every great ministry started from a humble beginning as Soldiers of Christ Ministries where young Elijah Kofi Essel at the age of twelve years started gathering young men and women during school break hours and school vacations to pray at Amankwatia L/A school, Stadium. In the year 2012, Sunday January 1st, the first church service was conducted under the direction of the Founder Prophet Elijah Kofi Essel which recorded thirty (30) people in attendance. The meeting place of this ministry was a classroom block at Wesley College at Suame in Kumasi. With passion and zeal for the great commission of our Lord Jesus, the church met every Friday and Sunday morning to worship, praise, pray, seek and proclaim His word. Church Hill of God has seen steady increase in membership and now has its Headquarters at Tafo Nhyiaeso in Kumasi.
SNR. Apostle Elijah Kofi Essel founder of Church Hill of God, a servant of Christ Jesus since childhood, called to be a Prophet and set apart for the gospel of God. He has ever been passionate in maintaining and promoting the vibrancy of the kingdom of God as ever now, raising fearless militants for the Lord. He is attested prophet of God with great anointing, humble in heart and in Spirit, he is a source of inspiration in leadership to many, with the fathers heart serves as a counselor to all those near and far. He is a family man blessed with a wonderful wife Mrs. Prudence Bedford Essel who out of her duties find time to support her husband in building this ministry to the glory of the Lord. We believe in the baptism by immersion as a testimony of a convert who has attained the age 13 years, infants and children are not to be baptized, but are dedicated to the Lord.
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for all believers with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues and the operation of the gifts and the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Believers must bear fruit in Christ.
